Sonny’s Body Shop began as a one-man repair shop in 1980. As the business grew, so did Sonny’s reputation as an honorable, reliable repair man. In 2006, Sonny sold the business to two young men who started their careers in the auto repair industry. Determined to maintain the same value and quality service customers came to expect from Sonny’s Body Shop, Traverse City natives Doug Rice and Robert Valleau kept the shop’s name and operated from its original location on Cass Hartman Court.

 

​The one-man repair shop that started out in a 6,000 square foot facility now employs 21 and works from a new 18,000 square foot service center located on an adjacent property. The state-of-the-art facility includes a drive-up estimating garage, environmentally friendly spray booths, energy efficient lighting and a freshly stocked coffee bar for folks to enjoy while waiting for an estimate.

Sonny’s Body Shop specializes in complete body and framework on all makes and models including commercial vehicles. Guaranteeing collision work for as long as the customer owns the vehicle, Sonny’s Body Shop works with all insurance companies and provides free estimates.
